obj output of 35 photos stitched together in Recap 360. I held the scan ner at a distance of roughly 4", and made several passes over the face. stl output of the scan using the XYZPrinting Handheld 3D Scanner. The first image is a photo of the statue I scanned, which is ~8" tall.

I do not believe their claims that the highest resolution it can scan at is 1.5 mm. I'm not going to risk trying to communicate with them for a month and have the return window on this thing close. I was tempted for a split second to reach out to XYZ for tips, but then I remembered that I have been trying to talk to them for three weeks now about a bad chip in a spool of filament. Based on my other experiences with XYZ, I am honestly not too terribly surprised. Even when the camera does work, the results are extremely disappointing. This thing may work, but the greater chance is that you will be disappointed. Please, listen to the reviews of others here. I really believed that I would be able to get this thing to work. I am absolutely not inexperienced when it comes to computers, tech, networking, and software. I have installed and setup my smart home, router, security system, program Arduino, design 3D models, and print 3D models. The app starts, and gives me the same message of "Device not found." I went through the entire process again, and it still shows "Device not detected." I have now requested a return with Amazon. I started the app, and updated the app again, and then started it again. I uninstalled EVERYTHING (drivers, SDK, controller, application), rebooted my computer, and installed EVERYTHING again. I followed all of the list, verified drivers, verified installed apps, and rebooted. * The last time I tried to scan, it again reported the "Device not found" with a list of things to try. It was too close, then instantly too far, then too close, then too far, etc, etc. A bright yellow duck against a dark gray background, and it couldn't see the duck. * I tried scanning a rubber ducky, and it wouldn't see it. * I tried scanning a multi-color drone, and it would see everything but black and white. * Multiple times as I tried to scan, when I changed mode it would give me the message of "Devince not found." I would restart the app, and it would work again. I tried a red ball with dimples in it, it wouldn't see the ball.

I tried putting a small toy elephant on a turntable, it would only create a blob. I tried my head, and it wouldn't see my beard / hair. Here's a fun little thing for you to do right now.see how many things are around that don't have black on them!?! * The camera is insanely sensitive to losing its tracking and failing. I ran it, and this is what I found: * If there is ANY black color on the item you're seeing, the scanner will not see it, at all. I followed the instructions to the T, and updated the software.
XYZPRINTING 3D SCANNER PRO SOFTWARE
I got the printer today and installed the software EXACTLY as stated. I should have known better with XYZ, especially since it is taking an insane effort just to get them to reply to my emails about a failed chip in a filament spool. I watched Youtube videos and read reviews, and after watching a couple of people have succes s, I thought I would go ahead and try. I downloaded the XYZPrinting software that did a diagnosis and my computer, and it came back saying that my computer would run the scanner very well. Why, why, why didn't I pay attention to the other reviews.
